The neighbourhood surrounding King Edward Station, located at West King Edward Avenue and Cambie Street, is a perfect example of residential Vancouver. Tour the tree lined streets to find classic character homes, locally owned stores and restaurants and wonderful parks.
Neighbourhood highlights include:
- Cambie Village shopping district – Cambie Street from 17th to 19th Avenues. Check out the restaurants, cafes, boutiques and movie theatre.
- Nat Bailey Stadium – Located on Ontario Street at 30th Avenue. Catch a Minor League Baseball game late June through Labour Day in this historic outdoor stadium built in 1951.
- Douglas Park – 20th Avenue and Willow Street. Featuring a community centre, playground, sports fields, workout track and wading pool (summer only). A great place to go with children or friends for a game of baseball or soccer, or to play on the playground, or find a quiet corner of the park for a moment of rest and relaxation.
- Old Schoolhouse# 472 – Laurel Street between 19th and 20th Avenues. One of Vancouver’s last remaining one-room schoolhouses. This building now sits as someone backyard shed, but is designated a heritage site and is accessible for viewing along Laurel Street.
- Vancouver Curling Club and Riley Park Community Centre – Midlothian Avenue. Built as the Curling and Wheelchair Curling venue for the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. This beautiful new building will serve as a community centre, skating rink and new home of the Vancouver Curling Club.
