Invisible Garden
Invisible Garden
By Langara College Students
The title “Invisible Garden” refers to the weeds growing through the pavement cracks around the Langara-49th Ave Station. These humble plants go unnoticed by people as they enter and exit the station. By rendering them larger than life and painting them in vivid colours, we call attention to their innate strangeness and beauty.
To actively look for examples of “invisible” life that populate our environment is rewarding, allowing us to cultivate a deeper relationship to our surrounding. To make a point of looking with curiosity and focus is an antidote to the disconnection that results from staring at a screen.
The initial concept was designed by Eden Veaudry, and realized as a collaborative effort by all students in the Public Art Studio course (Spring Term 2024), part of the Fine Arts program at Langara College.
The Langara Fine Arts diploma program is a two-year studio art foundation that emphasizes hands-on material based skills within a supportive community of makers, learners and thinkers.
