Richmond Brighouse

Brighouse Station is at the heart of Richmond’s cultural, recreational and administrative offerings. Located on No 3 Road between Saba and Cook Roads, Brighouse Station is within easy walking distance of shopping, community centres, a wonderful park, theatre and much more.

Temporary bridges for eastbound and westbound traffic on King Edward Ave. extends over excavated Phase A of King Edward Station. Following completion of construction for Phase A, bridges are removed and vehicle traffic is shifted to the east side of Cambie St. to accommodate Phase B construction on the west side.

Extensive micropiling work, required for shoring in confined spaces, was used to shore the perimeter of the station box.

Over 3444 cubic meters of soil was excavated from the site that was initially used for tunnel boring operations. Following the completion of the bored tunnels, Olympic Village Station was built in the same location.

30,000 cubic meters of soil was excavated from the site. VCC was the only downtown station requiring blasting to break up the ground material.

As the largest downtown station -- extending along two narrow blocks of Granville Street and having an impact on three major intersections -- Waterfront Station was one of the most challenging stations to construct on the Canada Line.
